Garden Report

You've got to win a little

Black Dragon Coleus, fuchsia, variegated vinca vine

Lose a little
(or in my case this year, a LOT)

diseased, fungus-ridden, spider-mite-hosting, underwatered spirea

Yes, and always have the blues a little.

Clarke's Heavenly Blue Morning Glory

That's the story of, that's the glory of

lamb's ear, purple alyssum, pink madness petunia

Love.

What were your garden's booms and busts?

  1. LOVE the blue morning glory! I tried gardening for the first time this year. Most of my plants committed suicide, but my geraniums are still going strong. Gardener high-five!

  2. Unfortunately this year I only planted a couple of things in pots (trying to stay focused on our ripped up inside of the house instead of getting distracted by all I want to do outside too) but they didn't survive my five week trip to Utah. I guess Scott and the little neighbor girl could only keep the pets alive in our absence. Yours look great though!

  3. One word says it all--grasshoppers. The voracious critters gorged their ugly little bodies on my hostas, peonies, pole beans, etc. I must say, though, that declaring war on them and spraying them with almost-organic insecticide felt really good.
